What Else Do I Do?

Outside The Office.

Basketball

Well I do have a keen in sport, I guess i'll start with that.

Ive played basketball for a good few years now. I began playing when I was 12 and stopped for a short time through college but i am now happy to say that i have started it up again and play for the CJ Hydraulics Basketball Club (Links on the left).

I personally think that going back to basketball has been one of my stronger decisions in life because it forces me to free my mind and think clearly whilst simultaneously indulging my competative streak.

In a way, i can see the simmilarities in sports and working life as they all require simmilar team ethics. For example, in a basketball game i must use the skills i have to be the best i can be and focus on being a team player. In both work and sport, if i was to be selfish or lazy, it would have a negative impact on the team.

Gaming

Having played games for a good portion of my life, I dont see myself quitting anytime soon.

I must annoy my girlfriend with the ammount i play games but I like to think i have the mindset to confidently say im not addicted to them, i just like them. Alot. I also dont dislike any genre of games (which is porbably part of the reason my games collection is embarrasingly taking over my room).

I usually find myself searching for the next big thing though nowdays. The next game to have stunning visuals. The next game to have a deep and emotional storyline. The next game to for me to master every combo and unlock every extra.

Occasionally a game gets through the barriers and beats all of my expectations. These games I like to call 'Keepers'. The reason Keepers are so hard to come by for me personally is usually because:

A: My attention span is simmilar to an overenthusiastic housefly when it comes to completing games.

B: I usually buy games in sets, and regardless how good a game is, it may be shadowed by another game bought at the same time.

C: I sincerely dont have the free time. When i have any spare time, I usually see my girlfriend or hang out with mates and if i buy a game in an unlucky period of busyness and it has no multiplayer functionality, It usually gets ignored. (Sorry Killzone 2! I'll come back for you i promise!)

Certain games have caught my eye and have been really influencial in all aspects of my work. If it's concept drawings, texturing style or even game ideas. I am always influenced by the games i play. It has even got to the point where I will sit and wonder how scenes are created for longer than the scenes were even meant to be shown for.
